We partnered with a leading global pharma on an exclusive basis to support in finding the next Head of Medical Affairs in the UK. 

Confidentiality and quality were paramount for this search. The client required a minimum of five suitable profiles presented in the shortlist, with summary points reflecting how each candidate matched the criteria. The key requirements for the search included over 10 years of experience in strategic medical affairs leadership positions, previous direct line management experience of a successful medical affairs team, subject matter expertise in the specified therapeutic area with launch experience, and an exceptional network of  KOL's in the UK.

The Challenge
The UK Medical Affairs market is incredibly buoyant, making it challenging to secure the best talent. A compelling sales strategy was essential to convince candidates it was the right time to make a move. The core challenge in this case was finding a candidate with the right balance of strategic medical affairs expertise within the therapeutic area and the necessary leadership experience to lead a team.

Key Roles We Filled
We filled several key roles, including a Strategic Medical Affairs Leader with over 10 years of experience, a Subject Matter Expert with proven leadership capabilities, and a senior professional with a strong network of KOLs in the UK and significant launch experience.

The Solution
After thorough discussions with the client, we mutually agreed that working exclusively would be the most effective approach for this search. This allowed us to focus on providing a highly selective, tailored marketing strategy. Through this approach, we identified five suitable profiles for the shortlist within the agreed time frame. These profiles came from both our existing network of experts and specialists we headhunted. All candidates received first-round interview requests, with three candidates progressing to face-to-face interviews. After conducting case study presentations and competency-based interviews, one candidate was selected for the role. We provided the client with a breakdown of the candidate’s current package and expectations, ensuring they could make an informed offer. The candidate accepted the offer and has since started in the role, thriving in the position.

Results/Outcomes
We identified five suitable profiles and presented them within the agreed timeframe. Three candidates progressed to face-to-face interviews, and the selected candidate accepted the offer. Since starting in the role, the candidate has excelled, and the client has been extremely satisfied with both the process and the outcome.
