Senior Optical Engineer to help design and build the optical systems that underpin next-generation quantum processors.
Responsibilities
- Examine optical designs and offer suggestions to reconcile conflicting needs such manufacturability, performance, and tolerance.
- Work together to create integrated optomechanical systems and customized optical components.
- Create optomechanical assemblies and put alignment, stability, and modularity techniques into practice.
- Take part in the automation and surveillance of optical subsystems to ensure the system runs continuously.
- Diagnose difficult optical problems and aid in the creation of diagnostic instruments
- Contribute to design reviews and processes for continuous improvement by documenting optical designs, alignment techniques, and test methods.
Requirements
- A master's or doctoral degree in physics, optical engineering, or a similar discipline
- At least five to eight years of expertise in the field of optical and opto-mechanical system design
- Strong practical background in optical assembly in an industry or research environment
- Familiarity with CAD software for optical and optomechanical design, such as Zemax and SolidWorks
- Thorough familiarity with pertinent optical components, such as high numerical aperture systems, lasers, and optical modulators. An advantage is having understanding of optical resonators and microscopy.
- You take pleasure in constructing, testing, and iterating, so you feel at ease going from concept to prototype quickly.
