The Senior Manager of Commercial Strategy and Execution will partner with regional and in-country leadership to design, coordinate, and scale commercial strategies that drive sustainable growth, elevate sales execution, and reinforce high standards of performance. This role supports critical sales functions and programs, builds and expands global customer reference sites, and leads strategic initiatives that enable the region to meet and exceed commercial goals.

This position requires close collaboration with market-level commercial leaders to align priorities, deploy resources efficiently, and ensure consistent execution in the field. Core responsibilities span strategic planning, sales enablement, leadership development, and performance optimization across multiple business segments.

The ideal candidate brings strong commercial judgment, a deep understanding of customer alignment, and the ability to clearly articulate how advanced medical technologies create measurable value for hospitals, clinical teams, and patients. A demonstrated history of building and developing high-performing commercial organizations, motivating teams across diverse cultures and geographies, and communicating with clarity, empathy, and impact is essential.

Success in this role demands exceptional collaboration, organization, and leadership while engaging with customers, senior executives, and commercial teams. Applicants must be based in Japan.


Roles & Responsibilities

Commercial Excellence and Scalability

• Coach and develop individual contributors on role expectations and performance standards.

• Coach and develop people leaders on leadership behaviors and effective cross-functional collaboration.

• Define, teach, and measure region-wide competencies by role, activity, and market maturity.

• Assess sales efficiency and productivity to ensure foundational sales capabilities are consistently scaled across markets.

• Partner with commercial learning teams to design onboarding programs for new hires.

• Collaborate on the development and delivery of core sales skills training programs.

• Support the creation and rollout of new leadership development curricula.

• Champion understanding and adoption of organizational culture and values across all markets.
 

Cross-Functional Leadership of Commercial Strategy

• Collaborate with regional general management and sales leadership to plan go-to-market strategies.

• Execute procedure, product, and digital portfolio launch initiatives with operational excellence.

• Partner with local and regional leadership to define quarterly milestones aligned to annual objectives.

• Monitor execution against milestones and adjust plans to support performance targets.

• Align with corporate business units to implement regionally prioritized strategies and programs.

• Coordinate with enabling functions to ensure consistent execution of new initiatives.

• Provide in-field training and coaching across clinical, specialty, capital equipment, and key account sales activities.

• Support regional sales leaders during customer-facing engagements as needed.

• Identify hospitals with potential to become regional or global reference sites.

• Develop physicians and care teams into key opinion leaders that demonstrate system value.

• Promote adoption of integrated systems, education, and service offerings through reference sites.

• Enable sales teams to use performance metrics to drive program expansion and sustained growth.


Skills, Experience, Education, & Training

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in medical sales and/or marketing.

• Familiarity with the operating room environment strongly preferred.

• At least 5 years of experience in a commercial leadership or people management role.

• Demonstrated ability to implement and scale clinical sales processes.

• Demonstrated ability to implement and scale capital equipment sales processes.

• Proven ability to work effectively across multiple functions and business units.

• Track record of influencing and inspiring diverse teams across cultures and markets.

• Significant experience presenting data-driven recommendations to senior internal and external decision makers.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Willingness to travel extensively (up to approximately 70% or more).

• Bachelor’s degree required.

• Master’s degree preferred.
