Challenge BJ!

Recruiters often get a reputation for being cut-throat and money-driven, but at Barrington James, our team is proving the opposite. Over the years, we’ve raised thousands for charitable causes, but now, we’re stepping up for one of our own.
Our friend and colleague, Helen Parsons—affectionately known as the resident Landlady of the Barrington Arms—recently received a heartbreaking diagnosis of incurable stage 4 cancer. After a routine mammogram, doctors found invasive ductal breast cancer that has spread to her spine, liver, and lungs. Tragically, this news follows her husband Michael’s own battle with cancer; he was diagnosed with prostate cancer in December 2019, and testicular cancer a year later in December 2020. Michael’s cancer has since spread to his aorta, liver, and lung.
The Goal: Supporting Helen and Michael Through Treatment
While Helen’s oncologists are hopeful that her treatment could grant her another decade, Michael’s survival rate stands at just 50-60%. To provide some relief and support to Helen and Michael as they face their treatments, we at Barrington James have launched Challenge BJ with an ambitious target of raising £5,000 by year’s end.
Planned Events for Challenge BJ
We’re pulling out all the stops with events to help reach our goal:
• Halloween Fancy Dress: Join us in costume to raise funds and spread awareness.
• Sponsored Challenges in November: Our team members are taking on challenges, from running a set distance throughout the month to cake bakes and even giving up shaving.
• International Men’s Day and Christmas Jumper Day: Special events to spread awareness, raise funds, and bring everyone together for this cause.
