How Volatile is Life Sciences Recruitment Right Now?

Life Sciences recruitment has been highly volatile, particularly over the past year. In my recent conversations with senior stakeholders across the industry, one question keeps coming up: "Is now a good time to change jobs?"

This is a tricky question to answer because the job market has been challenging, especially for senior candidates. Over the past year, we've seen a scarcity of vacancies, with companies favoring lower-level, junior candidates. When senior positions do open up, the competition is fiercer than in previous years.

There's also a palpable sense of caution in decision-making from both clients and candidates. Companies are adopting more stringent hiring processes, leading to extended acceptance periods. The conversations we’ve had on the ground have confirmed that companies are beginning to plan for growth again, indicating that the recent positive movements in funding and project restarts are translating into real opportunities for both candidates and employers.
